KOL IRKIN

Kol (the guy with tentacles on his head) is Happiness Station's doctor; he's 70 Earth years old. His passion for the study of all alien lifeforms goes beyond being a hobby, as his job on the station (which is visited by people from all planets) requires that he should know the physiology of as many races as possible in order to treat anybody who needs his services.

BORTE

Borte (on the right, near the doctor) is Kol's assistant. She's a very good nurse, very loyal to the doctor, and a very nice person. She's about 35 Earth years and loves children very much. Not much is known about her, not even where she comes from. However, she looks kind of like Nirun, so chances are they come from the same planet.

When Kol meets somebody who belongs to a species he's never seen before, he asks them for the permission to study them. Unfortunately, though, he behaves very differently with lower or dangerous animals, as he captures and locks them in his zoo on his planet. Not everybody considers this particularly civilized of him... He also has a similar collection in the station's laboratory, and there's a large number of people who try to convince him to stop locking creatures in what amounts to be a prison.

While he decided to live on the station, he often goes back to his native planet; it's is a very beautiful planet made of water, and his inhabitants live on the constellation of small islands that emerge from the water. His race evolved from amphibians, so even if they now live out of the water, they still retain some amphibious characteristics such as the absence of a nose and their ability to breathe through their skin.
Their technology is highly advanced, but they've managed to create a perfect balance between their needs and nature. Their homes, for instance, may look like huts from the outside, but if you step inside, you will find every kind of technology

Unfortunately, some races have a shorter lifespan than others, and Kol belongs to one of these... It's a sad day when Kol finally leaves this life to meet his ancestors, even if his friends find comfort in the knowledge that his life was full and happy.
Life, as it will, goes on and the station needs a new doctor. After interviewing many candidates, the director and the staff decide in favor of an old friend of Kol's: Dactyl.
Dactyl belongs to a very peculiar race; in fact, he doesn't have a brain. Or rather, he has a lot of brains, but not in his skull, which is empty. When he travels, he carries a few of his essential brains with him in a bag. He has a brain for each of his activities: working, studying, chatting… Every time he needs to do something, he connects the right type of brain to his spinal cord using a USB cable. When no brain is connected, he doesn’t talk and his eyes are completely white and blank. When he connects a brain, his eyes turn red, and Dactyl is at his best.
He’s a xenologist, like Kol. In fact, they attended the same university, where they became good friends.
We don’t know how old he is, but, since he was one of Kol’s classmates, he must be over 80 earth years old.
